Facilitation

Wherever there is change there is the potential for friction. Facilitation is the way in which organisations ease the possibility of turbulence when people, teams or organisations are brought together to work with one another.

The efficiency of a team is based on its members all pulling in the same direction, but when new teams are formed the individuals who make them up may well have different ideas, aspirations and levels of experience and training. Facilitation is all about finding the common ground to allow everyone to work together for the good of the organisation.

The first step is to understand what you are dealing with. This may involve the holistic 7S Model and a SWOT analysis, which will allow for a detailed assessment of the opportunity you have to achieve great things. Then Lean Thinking and Action Learning can be incorporated to encourage all members of the team both to consider their roles and to share their knowledge to plan for a more productive future.
